Hi, I am an Interaction Designer who is happy to see interactive me...

Goal
Butterfly Works is an innovative foundation and do-tank, working self initiated and as consultants to develop sustainable answers to social problems around the world. We partner with ngo's, public and private parties, educational institutions and individual experts. Our goal is to improve the quality of life of people in disadvantaged circumstances.

Approach
In our projects ethics are integrated with aesthetics. We design processes, content and produce concepts through interaction with the users. Main points of reference in our designs are the three p's, people, profit and planet (in equal weight) and the urgency of the millenium development goals.

Work areas
In the past we have worked with, through and in: non-formal education and exchange; sustainable product and project development; interactive media; networking across majority and minority world; Africa, Europe, Asia.

Name
‘One flap of a butterfly-wing here can cause a hurricane at the other side of the world’, called the butterfly effect (chaos theory first used by Lorenz in 1963). We aim to make big changes through small starts.
